The Alabama Gulf Coast has an event or activity for everyone this summer. Whether you like to fish, learn or celebrate… we are sure we can find an event you will like. Here are just a few of the fun things we found for you:
For Families
It is just a short drive to Pensacola to watch the Blue Angels! The Pensacola Beach Air Show is July 13 at noon, but they are also scheduled to practice most Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 11:30am. Here is a link to the schedule and viewing information. Or, go see the well-reviewed Brandon Styles Comedic Magic show or the Variety show. He is performing almost every Monday through Saturday this summer at OWA.
For the Fourth
Several places are offering festivities around the Fourth of July, including the famous Gulf Shores Fireworks show, a street party with lights, live music and more at the Wharf, historical reenactments at Fort Morgan, and a BBQ and Bikini contest at the Flora-Bama.
For Kids
Check out the summer program at the Sea, Sand, & Stars Science and Nature Center. It includes tours, a touch tank, night sky presentations, IMAX-type movies and special guests from the Orange Beach Wildlife Center. Or, sign the kids up for a Dive-In Movie at the Orange Beach Aquatics Center for Friday July 19th. The $15 admission price includes a movie, pizza and pool activities.
For Angler fans
The “Super Bowl of big game fishing,” the Blue Marlin Grand Championship, goes out of the Wharf the week of July 9. To enter the competition go to this website. You can also check out the many tournaments arranged by the Mobile Fishing Club here.
