The Gulf Shores International Airport is just weeks away from its first commercial flight. Flights will soon be available from six origination points across the South and Midwest.
Allegiant Airlines begins commercial operations in May. The first flight departs Gulf Shores, AL for Knoxville, TN on May 21, 2025. The airline will also offer flights to/from Cincinnati, OH; Belleville, IL; Kansas City, MO; Houston, TX and Northwest Arkansas.
Allegiant Airlines is a regional airline based in Nevada. The airline focuses on flights to smaller destinations and popular vacation sites like ours. The business model is based on offering low-cost fares to customers, so extras like checked baggage and seat selection does cost extra. Gulf Shores International Airport is just 3 miles from the Gulf Beachfront and Beach Boulevard. And roadway plans include a spur off of the Gulf Beach Express on the east boundary of the airport, which will give travelers an easier access point to Orange Beach and Perdido Key. Also, the new intercostal bridge is in the works, and this bridge will directly connect to the new airline terminal.
