Spring Break FAQs

Spring Break is here! It is time to shed those winter coats and head to the beach. We welcome our Spring Break friends back to family-friendly Orange Beach and Gulf Shores.

If you are planning to vacation with us, you may have some questions about how things work. Here are some answers to some of the most common Spring Break FAQs (frequently asked questions) in Orange Beach.

1 . How old do I have to be to rent a condo at Beach Getaways?

If you are a high school or college student, you may be hoping to vacation without your parents around. As with most condos in our area, we have an age policy. Vacation properties are rented to married couples who are 21 or older and/or single people who are 25 years or older.

Spring Break FAQs

  1. Are restaurants and bars open?

Despite a bumpy 2020, with the pandemic and Hurricane Sally, most bars and restaurants are now open at full capacity. Alabama still has a mask mandate in order until April 9. But still do pack a mask. Many businesses will require face coverings and social distancing after the mandate expires.

  1. Are there any rules about alcohol on the beach?

In Gulf Shores, alcohol is not allowed on the beaches during spring break. The city of Gulf Shores has banned alcohol on its beaches during March and April since 2016. In Orange Beach, alcohol is allowed on beach property by the condos. But, you cannot drink alcohol at Alabama public beaches. Glass bottles are also prohibited in both beach towns.

  1. Is it true that Orange Beach closed part of the beach for spring break?

A small portion of the public beach in Orange Beach will be closed during spring break. Leaders in Orange Beach explained that this beach on Perdido Pass has been a popular location for large crowds and parties in the past. Because of continuing concerns with COVID, officials are keeping this area closed for a few months. The rest of the beaches are open!

  1. Can we check-in early?

In most cases the code for the lock will not start working until 3PM. To ensure the condo is properly cleaned, inspected and prepared for your arrival the earliest arrival time is 3PM.
